Setting the table for a date night (in)

December 30, 2020

Thank you All Modern for sponsoring this post.

So it’s finally time to say goodbye to this unnerving year and welcome in the new, promising 2021. I honestly can’t believe I’m saying this because this entire year has felt like I’m in limbo, not really sure what’s going on or what’s next. I think it goes without saying that this year has brought so many changes. From the way we shop, to the way we gather with our families. We’ve had to learn a new set of rules and sort of make new ones along the way. Ultimately forcing us to get creative with how we celebrate and get together. Before the pandemic I loved throwing parties! I found every excuse to gather all of our friends and family! I would find a theme, decorate our house and assemble the most elaborate charcuterie boards. While the charcuterie boards have stayed, we’ve had to be more conscious about how we gather. It has also pressured us to stay in more (and cook more). Luckily, I’ve discovered a few ways to make our dining experiences at home feel a little more special. Keep reading to see how I set up my dining table for an intimate date night experience at home with my husband!

Florals

Elevate your dining experiences at home with a cute flower arrangement. It doesn’t have to be elaborate! Just add a nice flower bouquet to your shopping cart at the supermarket and assemble it in a cute vase. Tip: Use small vases. They are so much easier to fill and you can sort them around the table to fill up the space! I actually used dried flowers for this arrangement. I love fresh flowers, but I wanted to change things up.

Fancy Barware

Every home deserves a few fancy glasses. Whether you drink cocktails, wine or mocktails, there are so many options for barware, and having an assortment of glasses really makes a difference to your dining set up, even if you’re just opening up a bottle of wine. I decided to splurge on these gorgeous brass coupe glasses. I love making foamy cocktails (I made a cranberry mint pisco sour), so it almost felt necessary to have these for our date.

Fun Linens

Ditch the paper napkins and bring out the table linens. Even better if they have a fun pattern! I love these because they go great with the caramel dinner plates and faux greenery from the flower arrangement. I usually have a runner on the dinner table, but my favorite way to dress up the table a little is by adding napkins with a fun pattern!

We have finally added end chairs to our dining table (from All Modern). It truly makes the space feel complete! They not only serve as additional seating for our family and friends, but have added a nice contrast to all the dark colors we had in the space.

Thank you for stopping by and Happy New Year! I hope this year brings us positive changes!
