Hello!
So…lately I’ve been hearing all this “girl boss” talk. The “be your own boss”, “be the CEO your mom wanted you to marry” talk, or rather just captions on Insta. emiright? I can’t help but feel that even though this can be super encouraging to some women, it can also be discouraging to others. It might even form confusion. To some women these captions are totally relatable, because in fact, they ARE their own boss. It gets tricky when the it starts to sound like it’s the best and if you’re not your own boss, you just don’t have your stuff together. Which is not at all true.
Am I a girl boss? Do I have to be one? absolutely not. You don’t have to be your own boss to be your best self and be amazing at what you do. The key is staying focused on what you want to do.
I teach high school kids for a living, and while it’s not the most glamorous job in the world, I enjoy doing it. I make a daily effort to teach my students to be the best version of themselves. Whether that be through modeling good behavior or having discussions about daily experiences, I always make it a priority. I understand we’re not all made to be business owners and we’re not all made to pursue an education. The idea at the end of the day is that you’re doing what makes you happy, and hopefully making some money.
So yes, it’s totally okay to have a 9-5, or to not have a Master’s degree. Just do you.
So about this outfit… I got the Adidas sweatshirt for Christmas and hadn’t worn it, can you believe it?! I finally decided to wear it and paired it with my favorite jeans and pumps. It’s a perfect Sunday look.
I switched the pumps for these loafers to get a comfy look. 🙂 I promise I’ll do a separate look with these pink loafers because they really do deserve their own show! hah!
